Compilation portfolio featuring selected pieces illustrative of the breadth of work and media. Themes of light, color and place are embedded in each of these pieces. This compilation, I hope, offers the esteemed selection committee members at least three things as they consider final selection for the 2027 residency: 1) I work across different media depending on what the subject calls for and what the elements of expression demand, including but not limited to oil, watercolor, pastel (oil and chalk), graphite, charcoal, oil stick, and pencil among others.  2) I hope this compilation shows the tension I often wrestle between realism and impressionist abstraction, the push and pull between representation and gestalt. 3) Given my interest in orienting around the themes of nature and masculinity, I hope viewers can see that I have faculties in both subjects and can imagine the excitement this residency would enable as I contemplate and deepen ways to bring these themes together meaningfully and authentically.
